Honoring Our Past — Building Our Future
For almost one hundred years, Southern Oregon Humane Society has been a place where animals find safety, and people find hope. Since 1928, our shelter has served the community from the same location.
Generations of families have adopted here, volunteered here, and supported the lifesaving work that continues every single day. Our past is rich with stories of resilience, kindness, and the belief that every pet deserves a chance at a better life.
The Building that Carried Us This Far

Our current facility has stood with us through decades of change, but it was never built for the needs of modern animal welfare. Animal care has advanced significantly and so has the number of pets who rely on us each year.
Our team works hard to provide high quality care, yet the building limits how far we can go. Simple things like ventilation, sound control, medical space, and outdoor areas make a tremendous difference for animal health and well-being.
The structure we operate in today cannot support the growth, safety, and compassionate standards we know our animals deserve.

Southern Oregon continues to grow. SoHumane continues to grow with it. Throughout our history we have cared for tens of thousands of animals, and demand for our programs increases annually.
A new facility will allow us to expand medical care, meet modern housing standards, reduce stress for animals, and create a healthier environment for the animals, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
A Vision Rooted in History and Focused on Tomorrow
The campaign theme, Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future, reflects the heart of this effort. We are not leaving our history behind. We are building upon it. Almost a century of dedication has led us to this moment and to what comes next.
This project represents stability, future capacity, and a stronger foundation for the next hundred years of service.

This campaign is an invitation to create lasting, meaningful change for animals and for people. Every contribution helps us build a shelter that reflects the level of care our community expects and our animals deserve.
Your generosity will help us:
·Expand treatment and medical space.
·Provide safer, quieter, and healthier animal housing.Provide safer, quieter, and healthier animal housing.
·Create improved adoption and meet-and-greet areas.Create improved adoption and meet-and-greet areas.
·Offer humane education programs in dedicated learning spaces.Offer humane education programs in dedicated learning spaces.
·Reduce long-term maintenance costs so more resources can support lifesaving programs.
·Strengthen disaster response and rescue partnerships across the region.
·Expand kennel capacity for dogs and cats to better serve community needs.

This project will succeed because the community believes in the mission of SoHumane. Each gift, no matter the size, is part of the story of this new building. When we come together, we build more than a shelter. We build a future where more animals find homes, and more families experience the joy of adoption.
